Monday, February 18th, 2008

The Honest Tea Street Team has finally made its way north to the home of the 2007 World Series Champion Red Sox! After establishing ourselves in our home market of DC and moving north to take over NY; Boston is next on our radar. So get ready Bostonians! Keep your eye out for our Honest Tea Hybrid which will be making its rounds throughout the city and at local college campuses to give away free bottles of our 100% organic teas and ades. Check out these BU Terriers who were some of the first to encounter our team…

And on the streets of Newbury cause, hey, even shoppers have to hydrate…

But don’t worry, even if you don’t live in the city you could still stumble upon one of our sampling teams. These ladies were ripping up the slopes of Wachusettes…check out that hat hair! (I only mention it because she was so worried about it, haha)

Kung Hei Fat Choi (Happy New Year!)

Monday, February 11th, 2008

With a new Chinese new Year off to a start, will the year of the rat be the best one for Honest Tea yet? As long as global warming doesn’t stop us, we think so…
Leila Conners Peterson’s movie, “The 11th Hour,” takes an in depth look at the environmental and scientific consequences of global warming. We hooked up some tea for a private screening at the Waldorf School in Pacific Palisades. Sea runs the great events at the Waldorf (left,) Leila’s in the middle, and wait, who is that guy that snuck into the picture on the right?

Chinatown was off to a raging start this year with the annual Firecracker 5k race and Nite and Day Festival. Some fresh faces stopped by the both to get a taste of cold Honest Drinks before and after the race.

Mac Attack!

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

When It comes to guerrilla sampling, there’s one rule. Go where the people are. And there’s one place in New York City that is always jumpin’. Three actually… The Apple Stores!  In Soho, Meatpacking District and Midtown East. So on a cold January afternoon, we had teams of Honest Beverages guerrilla samplers on the streets outside these attractions. These shoppers already wanted Apples. We’re just trying to switch them over to organic. Outside of the Soho Apple Store, these two posed with Pom White and Orange Mango.  The paparazzi couldn’t find them, but Honest did. img_1828.jpg

The Minimalist Art of Organic

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Last Sunday, Honest Tea was served at the opening reception for Tom Burr’s “Addict-Love” exhibition at SculptureCenter in Long Island City. Upon first glance, I thought I had arrived a day early. There was a lone ladder in one corner of the gallery. A curtain lay on the floor in another area. I asked the curator if I was too early, and she explained that one of the themes of the exhibit was minimalism and that any more would be too much.

And then it dawned on me that Honest Beverages had a similar approach to creating delicious organic drinks. One only needs the basic ingredients to create an original masterpiece. Adding anything else makes it just like what everyone else is doing.

New Year’s Eve in NYC

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

What is the most popular new year’s resolution? To stop smoking? To lose weight? Both are good answers, but the number one resolution is.. To Look Mad Cool in 2008.

With this in mind, Honest Tea’s Dynamic Duo, Super Pat and Might Mikey P, headed down to Times Square in search of those who wanted to get a jump start on their resolution. See, in 2008, the organic movement is taking over, and if you’re not in…then you are out. BIG TIME! Check out these pics of NYC’s kings and queens of cool chillin’ with an Honest Beverage, while waiting for the ball to drop.

From Art School to Art Cool

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Maybe it’s the colorful design of the label. Maybe it’s the inspiring flavor mixtures that cascade across our tongues. Or maybe it’s that after a rigorous dance class or dancing at a hot party, Honest Tea and Honest Ade just quench your thirst. This week Honest Beverages helped students at Marymount College relax a little during their annual “Stress Down Day”. In addition to yoga classes and massages, students were offered organic Honest Tea.Orange Mango Honest Ade was right on time for these two as they left their modern dance class. marymount4.jpg

Later in the week we sponsored Tony Peralta’s art opening at Probus boutique clothing store. Photographers, dancers and musicians alike enjoyed the taste and the health benefits of Honest Ade.These two bombshells think Pom Blue and Cranberry Lemonade are the bomb.tony-peralta-art-show-5.jpg

Your Sisters’ Favorite Tea

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

This past Tuesday, December 4, was the New York City premiere of the Scissor Sisters’ new DVD, “Hurrah- A Year of Ta-Dah”. Though the band spends most of their time on tour in Europe, they were happy to be back in the USA, NYC in particular. After speaking to their fans and watching their documentary on the big screen, band members were ready to relax with an Honest Tea.

Here is vocalist, Ana Matronic with an Orange Mango Honest Ade.

And here is drummer, Paddy Boom, enjoying a Pom White Tea with Acai.

Even Rock n Roll photographer, Mick Rock, on the left, got in on the action with an Orange Mango.

Everyone agreed that Honest Tea and Honest Ade are delicious and appreciated the fact that they’re organic. Some even commented that Honest Tea was bound to roll over the sugary sweet competition. Now that rocks.

The Well-Mannered People of New York City

Monday, November 26th, 2007

On Thanksgiving Day, we hit the streets of New York City. Well. Two streets to be exact. Broadway at 57th street. And just in time for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Armed with Honest Tea, Honest Ade and Honest Kids, we did our best to compete with helium-inflated likenesses of Dora the Explorer, Shrek, Scooby Doo and Hello Kitty. From those who laid claim to their viewing spots well before the sun rose, to those who arrived hours later, ladders in hand, we got a bottle or drink pouch to them all. And though the looks of joy on little one’s faces were all the gratitude necessary, the ever-present “Thank You’s” were a reminder of exactly what day it was.

The Game.

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

As 100,000 sports fans journeyed to New Haven CT for the 124th annual Harvard-Yale football game, the big question for many was which undefeated team was going to take the ivy league championship, The Harvard Crimson or The Yale Bulldogs. For others the point of contention was which bottle of organic, thirst quenching goodness they wanted, POM Blue Honest Ade or a POM White Honest Tea.

Inside the Yale Bowl, the game was spectacular. The running backs ran, the receivers received, kickers kicked and tackles tackled. Outside, at the tailgates, the action was just as intense. The sippers sipped, the gulpers gulped and the chuggers chugged their Honest Beverages down.

At half time the fans joined in The Wave–thousands of students and alumni standing and throwing their hands above their heads, in one of stadium sports’ timeless traditions. At the same time, outside the stadium, our two Honest Tea samplers participated in a tradition of their own, packing up their van, thanking the police for their assistance and waving goodbye to another successful guerilla sampling.

By the way, Harvard beat Yale, 37-6. GO CRIMSON! POM White and POM Blue tied 360 bottles a piece. GO HONEST!

Going Green in San Francisco

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Wait, I thought San Francisco was green? Well yes, it is. Despite a massive oil spill in the bay, Northern California locals ‘got greener’ this weekend at the GreenFest in Downtown S.F. Over 36,000 environmentally and socially conscious people were educated on the latest and greatest with what’s new the green world.

Many were able to taste Honest Tea’s extended lineup of tea, juice, and the ever-cute Honest Kids. The children worked up a sweat finger painting and luckily had the pouches on hand to cool them down.

Did you know we recycle those pouches into purses, pencil cases and other cool items? We hooked up with Terracycle to create a recycling program that not only helps the environment, but it helps kids understand and visualize how recycling affects our planet. (You can also send in the Honest Kids UPC’s to Arbor Day and they’ll send them back with a seedling!)

One of our highlights of the event was Zach Houston, poet for hire, writing about his thoughts about a cold bottle of Honest Tea: “the west coast knows what the truth is more than the rest of the country though everyone is equally thirst tea and being named after a letter some drinks they deserve a more fluid interpretation of water with something in it besides life.”

Speaking of writers, down in LA, the writers of all your favorite TV shows and movies were on strike so Honest Tea knew they would probably get thirsty out there with all that picketing. Unfortunately, bottles of Honest Tea were not enough to inspire them back to work but who knows, maybe they’ll be inspired to write a new sitcom about striking and drinking cold, organic tea and ade. Coming this fall to your Thursday night TV lineup: Strike Ade- Los Angeles.

Additionally, we were able to get out to a gallery opening in LA and support an up and coming young artist named Albert Reyes, at Studio Browne in Echo Park. The show was great and we were happy to come out and support a fresh, young artistic talent like Albert.

Keep it green California.
