Wait, I thought San Francisco was green? Well yes, it is. Despite a massive oil spill in the bay, Northern California locals ‘got greener’ this weekend at the GreenFest in Downtown S.F. Over 36,000 environmentally and socially conscious people were educated on the latest and greatest with what’s new the green world.
Many were able to taste Honest Tea’s extended lineup of tea, juice, and the ever-cute Honest Kids. The children worked up a sweat finger painting and luckily had the pouches on hand to cool them down.
Did you know we recycle those pouches into purses, pencil cases and other cool items? We hooked up with Terracycle to create a recycling program that not only helps the environment, but it helps kids understand and visualize how recycling affects our planet. (You can also send in the Honest Kids UPC’s to Arbor Day and they’ll send them back with a seedling!)
One of our highlights of the event was Zach Houston, poet for hire, writing about his thoughts about a cold bottle of Honest Tea: “the west coast knows what the truth is more than the rest of the country though everyone is equally thirst tea and being named after a letter some drinks they deserve a more fluid interpretation of water with something in it besides life.”
Speaking of writers, down in LA, the writers of all your favorite TV shows and movies were on strike so Honest Tea knew they would probably get thirsty out there with all that picketing. Unfortunately, bottles of Honest Tea were not enough to inspire them back to work but who knows, maybe they’ll be inspired to write a new sitcom about striking and drinking cold, organic tea and ade. Coming this fall to your Thursday night TV lineup: Strike Ade- Los Angeles.
Additionally, we were able to get out to a gallery opening in LA and support an up and coming young artist named Albert Reyes, at Studio Browne in Echo Park. The show was great and we were happy to come out and support a fresh, young artistic talent like Albert.
Keep it green California.
