PR@honesttea.comJanuary 27, 2008- Honest Tea®, the nation's top-selling organic bottled tea company, launched its newest variety, organic Mango Green Tea - during an exciting sale event in New York City. Consumers in and around New York City will be among the first to enjoy Honest Tea's Mango Green Tea as it officially begins market introductions in delis, grocery and convenience stores throughout the area. Honest Tea expects to introduce the brand new variety in other markets across the country over the next few months.
Mango Green Tea is the latest edition to Honest Tea's line up of truly functional, antioxidant-rich beverages in 16 ounce PET #1 bottles. The goodness of green tea combined with the exotic flavor of juicy mangoes not only tastes great, but also has great health benefits. In fact, a recent study from the American Society of Nutrition published in The Journal of Nutrition found that consuming a beverage containing green tea catechins (625 mg/day) may enhance exercise-induced loss of abdominal fat and improve triglyceride levels.
Each bottle of Mango Green Tea contains real organic green tea leaves and 200mg of Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), the "super-antioxidant". It is the ideal drink for health-conscious consumers with only 40 calories per serving and 10 grams of organic cane sugar - making it "just a tad sweet."
"We've seen a fantastic response to our other mango-flavored offerings so it's not surprising the combination of the world's most popular fruit (sorry bananas!) with our top-selling green tea is a perfect union," said Seth Goldman, President & TeaEO of honest Tea.
Mango Green Tea will taking the place of Citrus Green Energy Tea, joining the other four PET tea varieties: Pomegranate White Tea, Honey Green Tea, Peach White Tea and Lemon Black Tea, all available in 16.9 fl. oz., recyclable PET #1 bottles with a suggested retail value is $1.69.

PR@honesttea.comJuly 24, 2008 - Honest Tea, makers of the nation's top-selling organic bottled tea, announced today that two of its newest varieties, Lemon Black Tea and Peach White Tea, will contain Fair Trade Certified tea leaves. Labels of both teas will soon carry the Fair Trade Certified mark, a simple way for consumers to know their tea was produced by suppliers that meet high standards for equitable pay and safe working environments.
Honest Tea's Lemon Black and Peach White varieties were introduced in February 2008 as part of the company's continuing mission to offer healthier, USDA-certified Organic teas. Today's announcement coincides with the announcement that Honest Tea will be launching distribution with Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (CCE) on the West Coast.
"By converting these teas to Fair Trade Certified at the same time that we are launching with Coca-Cola Enterprises, Honest Tea is making an important statement about the way we intend to continue to build our brand and our mission," said Seth Goldman, President and TeaEO of Honest Tea. Honest Tea was the first company to introduce an organic bottled tea in 1999 and the first to produce a Fair Trade Certified bottled tea in 2003. Fair Trade certification ensures that the tea garden workers earn a fair wage and that the suppliers meet TransFair USA's strict criteria for equitable pay and safe working environments.
"We are delighted to see high-integrity companies such as Honest Tea embrace Fair Trade Certified," said TransFair USA's President and CEO, Paul Rice. "The ready-to-drink beverage aisle is among the most visible areas in the store, these high-quality products have the ability to appeal to a greater number of shoppers. This ultimately means more money back to farmers."

BLUNT HONESTY AND QUIRKY HUMOR RACK UP RECOGNITION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comA lighthearted blend of blunt honesty and quirky humor has earned a coveted District Two Golden ADDY Award for an Honest Tea advertisement designed by Rosenthal Partners. The ad, titled "Still Can't Dunk", was part of a unique Honest Tea advertising campaign designed for Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona in 2007. Honest Tea is typically known for its non-traditional sampling campaigns and guerrilla marketing. The regionally-focused advertising effort was a venture into new territory for the company.
"Still Can't Dunk" was posted on bus stop shelters and bus backs throughout the two metropolitan regions. The ad displayed two lines drawn across a bottle of Honest Tea's Orange Mango Honest Ade with corresponding tag lines which indicated the quantity of beverage consumed. The higher tag line read "Can't Dunk" and the lower line - indicating the effects of consuming more of the great-tasting, USDA certified organic thirst quencher - boldly stated "Still Can't Dunk" in a classic display of Honest Tea humor.
"We presented Rosenthal Partners a real challenge with this campaign. These were new markets for us and we wanted to make a real splash. Since Honest Tea usually creates awareness among consumers with sampling events and in-store sweepstakes, we needed to find a way to reach consumers while maintaining our brand's distinctive personality. This foray into print ads helped introduce us to a broad base of consumers with 'just a tad' of Honest Tea humor," said Seth Goldman, President and TeaEO of Honest Tea.
"Our job was to translate Honest Tea's voice into shorter, quicker messages appropriate for signs and billboards. We had a lot of great cues to work with since Honest Tea already had a strong, established reputation. We knew we could create a quirky, self-deprecating series of ads that would not over-promise to consumers but still communicate the strength of the brand," said Jim Lansbury, Creative Director for Rosenthal Partners.
"Ultimately, all five of the ads Rosenthal Partners designed for Honest Tea won local Washington, DC-area ADDY Awards and were submitted for review to the District Two competition. "Still Can't Dunk" was selected as one of only a few locally for a District Two Gold ADDY Award. Ultimately, of those, only one ad, by another firm, reached the national selection stage for the national awards to be announced in June, which means we were in some pretty exclusive company," Mr. Lansbury added.
Considered to be one of the advertising industry's largest and most representative competitions for creative excellence, the ADDY Awards Competition is a national, tri-level competition, held annually by the American Advertising Federation. With over 60,000 entries each year from 15 districts nationwide, winners from the local Washington DC metropolitan competition moved on to compete in the District Two ADDY Awards this past month which included numerous entrants from Maryland to New York. "Still Can't Dunk" was one of only 11 entries from the Washington, DC area to receive a Gold ADDY Award on a district level.
About Rosenthal Partners Rosenthal Partners is a full service advertising agency with 35 employees and approximately $53 million in annual billings. It is a wholly independent agency and a member of the American Association of Advertising Agencies.

Honest Kids' Drink Pouch Brigade
Every year billions of drink pouches end up in dumpsters and landfills across America. TerraCycle, Honest Kids and Capri Sun are working together to reduce drink pouch waste with the Drink Pouch Brigade.
The program allows schools, houses of worship and others to reuse their empty drink pouches by transforming them into fashionable school supplies. Today, there are more than 1,500 collection sites around the country and over 126,000 pouches have been collected. The pencil cases and handbags produced by the program are now available at select Target, Walgreen's and Office Max locations, among others nationwide.
"Until we create a container that is completely biodegradable, we face the challenge of selling packaging that cannot be recycled," said Goldman. "We are delighted to work with TerraCycle to find a second life for our pouches… and a fashionable second life at that!"

For both varieties, Honest Tea has analyzed the energy consumed from tea bush to warehouse and is paying an offset to Clean Currents to purchase wind power credits. The energy analysis is posted on Honest Tea's website
here.
ABOUT THE COCA-COLA INVESTMENTRecently, Honest Tea and The Coca-Cola Company announced that the world's largest beverage company purchased a 40 percent stake in Honest Tea, enabling the Honest brand to reach more consumers and expand its impact. While Coke is now Honest Tea's largest shareholder, the founders will continue to run the business independently with the same leadership and mission.
"This investment will allow us to get to the next level of impact, to see Honest Tea sold wherever beverages are sold while still honoring our mission and style of business," said Seth Goldman, president and TeaEO of Honest Tea. Goldman stressed that Honest Tea intends to continue to build its top position in the natural food channel through its network of natural food brokers and distributors. "As our delicious new varieties indicate, Coke's investment is intended to support Honest Tea's innovative approach to organics and sustainability."
NEW PRODUCTS AT EXPO WEST Keeping with its reputation as an innovator in the beverage industry, Honest Tea has introduced several new products for 2008. Focusing on its vision of providing great-tasting, healthier beverages while considering sustainability, Honest Tea's new varieties provide a world of delicious choices.
NEW Jasmine Green Energy Tea - A Sip In the Right Direction - Jasmine Green Energy Tea earned its name not only because it's a naturally invigorating blend of green and white teas, but because Honest Tea buys renewable energy credits to offset the CO2 emissions generated from the production of the tea. Lightly sweetened, Jasmine Green Energy contains just 17 calories per serving.
NEW Citrus Decaf Spice - Life Needs Balance - So does tea. That's why Honest Tea has taken its traditional smooth black tea and spiced it up with everything from tangy cinnamon to hints of agave. The agave, as a low glycemic sweetener, creates a perfect balance between great taste and good health. Citrus Spice Decaf contains 17 calories per serving.
NEW Citrus Green Energy Tea - This organic blend gives new meaning to the term "green" tea. Citrus Green Energy Tea earned its name not only because it's a naturally invigorating combination of green tea, yerba mate (pronounced mah-tay), oranges and lemons, but also because Honest Tea buys renewable energy credits that help offset all the CO2 created along the production chain. And unlike other energy drinks, Citrus Green Energy isn't loaded with extra caffeine, so it's good for both the consumer and the environment.
NEW Lemon Black Tea returns to an American classic, black tea with lemon. It uses black tea from Sri Lanka, a squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of cane sugar. With 40 calories per serving, it remains "just a tad sweet" but allows for broad appeal for longtime tea fanatics as well as newer consumers of organic beverages.
NEW Peach White Tea combines the lightness of white tea with the sweetness of peach puree. Because white tea is the least processed type of tea, it's packed with lots of nutrients leaving many other teas green with envy. Containing only 40 calories per serving, this organic tea contains no chemicals or pesticides, allowing the subtle flavors of the white tea to emerge clearly.###About Honest TeaHonest Tea is the nation's top-selling organic bottled tea company with a mission to make great-tasting, truly healthy organic beverages sweetened with less sugar and fewer calories than most bottled beverages. HONEST TEA LAUNCHES NEW TEA LINE-UP WITH BRIGHTER TASTES AND LABELS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke

PR@honesttea.comHonest Tea
Coming off of its tenth anniversary, Honest Tea launched a field marketing blitz this month starting in New York City - its number one market - by hitting the streets and unveiling a new line-up of teas in PET plastic bottles with a fresh new look.
The new lineup - which includes Citrus Green Energy Tea, Honey Green Tea, Lemon Black Tea, Peach White Tea, and Pomegranate White Tea with Acai - is USDA Certified Organic and each variety has less sugar and calories than most of the bottled teas on the market. Additionally, the level of Epigallocatechin Gallate (known as EGCG), the key antioxidant found in tea, takes a prominent position on the front of label to better communicate Honest Tea's superior antioxidant benefits. Unlike the new labels, the previous labels did not draw attention to the high levels of EGCG in Honest Tea's drinks.
Both green teas, Citrus Green Energy Tea and Honey Green Tea, have 250 mg of EGCG per bottle. And both white teas, Pomegranate White Tea and Peach White Tea, each have 150 mg of EGCG per bottle, significantly higher than most other brands.
"After 70 percent growth in 2007, and a significant investment from the Coca-Cola Company, it's time to take Honest Tea to a wider audience, and this new tea line is the perfect package to do it," said Seth Goldman, president and TeaEO of Honest Tea. In February of this year, The Coca-Cola Company acquired a 40 percent stake in Honest Tea, with the goal of exploring how the two companies can find synergistic opportunities to expand Honest Tea into the mainstream market.
As the nation's first and leading maker of organic ready-to-drink tea, Honest Tea has continuously developed varieties that introduce many new consumers to the world of better tasting beverages that are "just a tad sweet." The new lineup includes both fresh introductions and revised formulations. All of the teas remain at or below 40 calories per serving and 85 calories per 16.9 oz. bottle.
Citrus Green Energy Tea gives new meaning to the term "green" tea. It earns its name not only because of its naturally invigorating combination of green tea, yerba mate, oranges, and lemons, but also because Honest Tea buys renewable energy credits that help offset all the energy consumed along the production chain. Unlike other energy drinks, this newest member of the PET line is not loaded with extra caffeine, making it both good for the consumer and the environment.
Honey Green Tea blends green tea with a kiss of organic honey. This combination results in a flavorful experience that leaves many other teas "green with envy." With only 35 calories, this tea has less than half the calories of many other bottled teas, but still qualifies as "just a tad sweet." Tests have shown it to have at least 250 mg of EGCG per bottle.
Lemon Black Tea returns to an American classic, black tea with lemon. It uses black tea from Sri Lanka, a squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of cane sugar. With 40 calories per serving, it remains "just a tad sweet" but allows for broad appeal for longtime tea fanatics as well as newer consumers of organic beverages.
Peach White Tea combines the lightness of white tea with the sweetness of peach puree. Because white tea is the least processed type of tea, it's packed with lots of nutrients leaving many other teas green with envy. Containing only 40 calories per serving, this organic tea contains no chemicals or pesticides, allowing the subtle flavors of the white tea to clearly emerge.
Pomegranate White Tea with Acai adds the antioxidant power of pomegranates from Turkey and acai from the Amazon with the 150 mg of EGCG per bottle to white tea from India. This powerful combination remains lightly sweetened with only 40 calories per serving but brings new meaning to the term "radical buster."
To communicate the health and taste benefits to a wider audience, Honest Tea turned to Moxie TM, Inc., a New York-based brand design and development firm. "Because we wanted to distinguish the brand from the sea of color that appears in this category, we started with a clean white canvas," explained Tammy Vaserstein, Creative, Principal, Moxie TM. "In addition, white has the most impact on shelf within this category while communicating freshness and simplicity, whereas too much color says 'artificial' rather than 'organic', and a sliding bar graphic serves as a visual icon helping consumers understand how much EGCG is in each variety," she added.
According to Moxie, the brand's existing equities were identified as the black border around the label incorporating the Honest Tea brandmark and the signature 'T.' "The black border creates an anchor across all of Honest Tea's product lines and we used the white area within the black frame as a clean palette where we could tell their story in a modern and fresh way," said Vaserstein. Clean and simple typography matches the brand's promise, and luscious fruit illustrations within each 'T' add to the fresh, organic appeal while standing out against the white background."

THE COCA-COLA COMPANY SIGNS AGREEMENT FOR 40% STAKE IN HONEST TEACoca-Cola Interest In Honest Tea Brings The Opportunity To Reach More Consumers
Bethesda, February 5, 2008 - Honest Tea, Inc. and the Coca-Cola Company today announced that the two companies have completed an agreement resulting in Coca-Cola holding approximately 40% interest in the fast-growing maker of certified organic beverages, including the best-selling Honest Tea®. Coca-Cola may elect to buy, and the remaining Honest Tea shareholders may elect to sell to Coca-Cola, the outstanding interest not currently owned by Coca-Cola in the future. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
"We started Honest Tea ten years ago with five thermoses and an ambitious vision for offering a new type of beverage - a delicious healthier drink produced with a consciousness about the way the ingredients are grown. As more consumers become aware of how their decisions impact the health of the planet and themselves, we are thrilled to receive this investment from the world's largest beverage company to help take our brand and our mission to a larger scale and wider audience," said Seth Goldman, co-founder and TeaEO, Honest Tea.
The strategic opportunity was identified by Coca-Cola North America's Venturing and Emerging Brands (VEB) Business Unit. "Honest Tea is on the forefront of the rapidly growing organic beverage business, and Seth Goldman and his management team have successfully anticipated and met consumer needs in this expanding category," said Deryck van Rensburg, president and general manager, Venturing and Emerging Brands, Coca-Cola North America. "This transaction is a superb example of our mission in VEB to seek out and invest in the best beverage entrepreneurs and the highest growth-potential beverages."
Honest Tea was started in 1998 when Goldman and his co-founder, Barry Nalebuff, brewed samples of tea in Goldman's Bethesda, MD home and brought them to the regional office of a natural foods chain. Since then the brand has become the top-ranked tea brand in the natural foods channel (according to SPINScan) and has begun to expand into mainstream grocery and convenience stores. "This is our chance to bring organic beverages to the mainstream," said Barry Nalebuff, co-founder and chairman, Honest Tea. "Customers will get to discover that they can have it all - great taste, less calories, and organic. Honest." In 2005 the company created Honest Ade organic thirst quenchers and in 2007 it launched Honest Kids, a line of low-calorie organic thirst quenchers sold in 6.75-ounce pouches.
"The knowledge and access that Coca-Cola North America and its distribution system can provide comes at a perfect time as Honest Tea is at an exciting inflection point. I look forward to helping Seth and the team continue to build the business the right way in the years ahead," said Gary Hirshberg, president & CE-Yo of Stonyfield Farm and longtime board member of Honest Tea. Hirshberg will continue as a member of Honest Tea's Board.

HONEST TEA MAKES A MOVE TO THE GREENER SIDE WITH A NEW ECO-FRIENDLY OFFICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comHonest Tea has made the move to an environmentally friendly office where they will continue their mission of making great-tasting, truly healthy organic beverages while making a contribution to energy savings, sustainability and environmental health. This next step in the company's evolution is a true testimony of the company's passion for social responsibility, whether it is focusing on initiatives for the environment or creating partnerships with the growers, cultures and communities behind their products.
The green movement has become a household term, but with all of the current efforts, there is a whole aspect that people are overlooking. In the U.S., buildings account for 39 percent of the nation's total annual energy consumption, whereas transportation (including cars) comprises only 27 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Energy and Department of Transportation. The average commercial structure will cost 10 times as much to operate over its typical 100-year life span as its cost to build.
"We strive to live up to our name in the way we conduct our business," says Seth Goldman, President and TeaEO of Honest Tea. "Going green within the workplace was a logical next-step for us."
"It's amazing how much of an impact companies can have when they decide to become environmentally conscious," says Anne Decker of Rill & Decker Architects, P.C., whose company designed the new office. "Making certain choices such as the kind of lighting you install or the location of your building in relation to public transportation or a bike trail can make all the difference. Honest Tea put thought into every aspect of their new office, making the space a wonderful place for employees and the environment."
-more-
Honest Tea's home office redesign includes:
The use of energy-saving lighting. The use of recycled rubber in the flooring for the kitchen and hallways - The flooring is made from recycled tire rubber taken out of landfills all over the country. It is manufactured with a "green" process: using minimal water and reusing scrap to eliminate waste. The product is not heated during the manufacturing process, and the plants where it is produced have good air quality with minimal odor and no smoke stacks. The flooring contains no formaldehyde or PVC and is applied with a low-VOC emission adhesive.Bamboo floors - Bamboo is a highly renewable resource growing two to three feet in the first 24 hours after sprouting and reaching a mature height and diameter in only six months. By using bamboo, Honest Tea contributes to the protection of endangered hardwood trees. Bamboo also benefits the environment in that it has a broad root structure that prevents soil erosion. The floors are from Dragonfly Bamboo, which uses a zero-formaldehyde glue. The use of a recycled material for a custom-built work table - Honest Tea found a way to integrate its original tea-brewing infusion basket into the design of the table.Reused desks and furniture - Rather than buying new office furniture, the company is reusing its old desks, and will only buy used furniture if needed.Recycled tea crates from their tea manufacturer - To be used for reception tables and decorations around the office. An IceStone Kitchen Island - made of recycled glass and concrete.Windows that can be opened and closed - This is an energy-saving element as it allows employees to regulate temperature naturally and cut energy costs for heating and cooling. A one-room open space office - This allows natural light from the windows to reach the entire office and cuts energy costs for lighting. Recovered-brick support columns - Honest Tea retrieved used bricks from a Baltimore construction site. The use of an energy-saving refrigerator in the kitchen - It is estimated to be 15 percent more efficient than current Federal Energy Standards.A shower in the bathroom to encourage staff to bike, rather than drive to work - The office is located near the Capital Crescent Bike Trail with access to most of the DC metro area, and within walking distance of the Bethesda Metro tation for public transit access.###About Honest TeaHonest Tea is the nation's top-selling organic bottled tea company with a mission to make great-tasting, truly healthy organic beverages sweetened with less sugar and fewer calories than most bottled beverages. HONEST TEA PARTNERS WITH JAMIS BIKES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comWHAT: Honest Tea is extending a challenge to Montgomery County employers to join them in supporting employee health and wellness. Honest Tea has partnered with bicycle manufacturer, Jamis Bikes, to provide discounted bicycles to employers who distribute at least fifteen bikes to their employees this summer. Each employer who takes up the challenge between now and July 31 will receive one free case of Honest Tea to share with their employees for each bike they give away.
Honest Tea will extend this challenge Thursday, June 14 at the Alliance for Workplace Excellence Awards. The Alliance for Workplace Excellence is an organization that provides a variety of services that allow Montgomery County employers to build excellent places to work.
The Alliance will also be recognizing Seth Goldman, co-founder, president and TeaEO of Honest Tea, with the 2007 Visionary Leadership Award. Honest Tea as a company will receive a 2007 Workplace Excellence Award.
"By getting more people out of their car seats and onto their bike seats, we hope that this challenge will help employees get healthier as well as reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the DC area," says Goldman. Bicyclists and walkers arrive at work with less stress than those who commute by automobile.
The Berkeley Wellness Letter reports that chronic exposure to traffic congestion lowers frustration tolerance, increases baseline blood pressure, negative moods, and aggressive driving habits. In contrast, bicyclists and walkers often report feeling relaxed and more alert after arriving at work, making them ready for a more productive day.
WHO: Goldman is an entrepreneur who has made a commitment to work-life balance and environmental sustainability part of his everyday work and life. Nine years ago, he founded Honest Tea, a company that is now the leader in the bottled organic beverage industry. His ongoing commitment to employee work-life balance has paid off in fueling the company's growth. In fact, Honest Tea has enjoyed a 65 percent compound annual growth rate since its start in 1998. The company was the first to market Certified Organic bottled tea as well as Fair Trade bottled tea and has initiated creative partnerships to support non-profit organizations, economically disadvantaged communities and environmental initiatives. Honest Tea was named to the WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplacesâ„¢ in 2007 and also received the Workplace Excellence Award from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence in 2006.
Jamis Bicycles rolled out its first Earth Cruiser bicycle in 1979 and has since built a reputation as a brand unmatched in performance, value and style. Jamis bicycles are sold in the U.S. from coast to coast and in over 40 countries worldwide.
WHY: This call to action is consistent with Honest Tea's ongoing commitment to employee health and wellness and work-life balance. This June, Honest Tea is giving each of its 50 employees a free Jamis Bike to use to bike to work, or whenever they choose, to increase fitness and exercise levels while enjoying time outdoors. Honest Tea has also recently launched a partnership with Jamis to give away over 500 bikes (Jamis Ranger SX) to its customers via a sweepstakes being held during June and July at various retailers throughout the country.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL NO LONGER MEANS BACK TO SYRUPY SWEET DRINKS

PR@honesttea.comWith a growing body of research showing that beverages high in sugar and high fructose corn syrup are major contributors to childhood obesity, parents can get a healthy start to the school year by packing lunch boxes with Honest Kids, a new line of thirst quenchers from Honest Tea, makers of the number one selling organic bottled tea . Each variety in the Honest Kids line is USDA Certified Organic and contains less than half the sugar and calories of other kids' drinks on the market. Honest Kids comes in three varieties -- Berry Berry Good Lemonade, Goodness Grapeness and Tropical Tango Punch -- and provides a full day's supply of vitamin C in each serving.
Honest Tea, has introduced this new line just in time for the kick-off of the school year to provide kids with a great-tasting healthy drink option that is perfect for both school lunch boxes and after-school snacks. As companies continue to offer more and more super-sweet soft drinks, fruit juices and other beverages aimed at growing children, parents are at a loss to find healthier alternative drinks that their kids will enjoy.
"Even we were surprised to learn that most drink pouches have more sugar per ounce than a can of soda*," says Honest Tea co-founder, President and TeaEO, Seth Goldman. "What really convinced me that we needed to make this product was when my 12-year- old son asked why we were making healthy drinks for adults, while he was still taking flavored sugar water to school."
"The obesity epidemic among children is real," says Joanna Conroy, R.D., a nutrition expert who works with children. "Limiting calories and sugar in their beverages is a key element in helping them maintain a healthy weight. Honest Kids contains half the calories and sugar of most children's drinks, making it a healthier choice for parents while still offering a great taste for kids."
With only 40 calories and 10 grams of sugar per serving, here's a look at how Honest Kids new pouch drinks positively compare to other drink alternatives on market:

Sublime Mate (pronounced mah'-tay), is an updated take on the traditional South American drink which is brewed from the leaves of the Yerba Mate tree. Sublime Mate offers a smooth brew blended with refreshing organic limeade, cane sugar, and a hint of ginger for an antioxidant-rich, low-sugar drink. "Sublime Mate is a perfect natural pick-me-up," said Seth Goldman. "The energizing zing of the added limeade rounds out the flavor, creating a tasty juice-meets-tea blend." Sublime Mate is available this spring in a 16 oz glass bottle.
Pomegranate Red Tea with Goji Berry is an organic brew of Fair Trade Certifiedâ„¢ rooibos and honeybush from South Africa fused with antioxidant-rich pomegranate and goji berry. Pomegranate Red is available in a 16 oz glass bottle and will be on store shelves this spring. "Red tea is growing in popularity," said Goldman. "Not only is it naturally caffeine-free, it's also naturally sweet so very little sugar needs to be added to make a great drink. We've added antioxidant-rich pomegranate and goji berry to give it a fuller, fruitier flavor."
Pomegranate White Tea with Açaí Delivers Antioxidant Triple Treat & Orange Mango with Mangosteen - A Tantalizing Tropical Thirst QuencherPomegranate White Tea with Açaí combines three antioxidant-rich ingredients - pomegranates, white tea, and the aç berry with less than three teaspoons of organic cane sugar per serving to create a delicious, delicate tea. "Not only is it delicious, but Pomegranate White Tea with Açaí is high in antioxidants, low in sugar and contains nothing artificial. It's great because of what isn't in it as well as what is," said Seth Goldman co-founder and TeaEO of Honest Tea. Pomegranate White is available in a 16.9 oz recyclable PET bottle and is currently in distribution nationwide.
Honest Tea is expanding its fast-growing Honest Ade line with Orange Mango with Mangosteen. Also packaged in PET, this delicious tropical organic thirst quencher features orange juice, mango, antioxidant-rich mangosteen and a hint of organic cane sugar. One serving of Orange Mango gives consumers a full-day's supply of vitamin C with half the calories of orange juice.
Just Green and Just Black: More to Love as Multi-Serve Bottles Introduced In response to consumer requests, Honest Tea expands its line of ready to drink teas with the introduction of 64-oz multi-serve bottles. Just Green, and Just Black, the nation's first unsweetened organic bottled teas, are the company's first teas to be offered in the new size bottle which is recyclable PET #1. They are in stores now. "With the introduction of our new 64 oz bottle, our customers are getting more of a good thing," said Goldman. "With at least 8 servings per bottle, this new line is not only cost-effective for a tea-lover, but reduces packaging, and gives consumers, especially families, a healthier alternative to most multi-serve beverages on the market."

PR@honesttea.comHonest Tea, maker of the nation's top-selling organic bottled tea*, announced today that it has received $12 million in equity financing from three primary sources: top-tier beverage distributors; Stonyfield Farm, Inc. and Inventages Venture Capital Investment Inc, an international private equity firm specializing in health science and wellness.
"The timing for this infusion is perfect," said Seth Goldman, President & TeaEO. "We've been enjoying strong growth since we started Honest Tea out of my house in 1998 but we're seeing sales and distribution reach a new level as consumers seek healthier beverages." Honest Tea co-founder and Chair, Barry Nalebuff said, "Whether it's the great taste, lower-calorie profile or organic formulations, people are responding to Honest Tea. This is the time to take things to the next level and now we have the financing and the partners to bring our tea to a mainstream audience."
The company, which accounts for 58% of the certified organic bottled tea market as tracked by SPINSscan*, had sales of $13.5 million in 2006 and has been averaging 50%+ growth for the past two years, will use the proceeds of the financing to hire new people to expand distribution and introduce several products in 2007 including new varieties, new packages, and a breakthrough children's line called Honest Kids.
*Data according to SPINSscan for the 12 month period ended December 2, 2006
Gary Hirshberg, President & CE-Yo of Stonyfield Farm, first joined Honest Tea's board when his company made an investment in 2002. "We have long supported Seth and Honest Tea's efforts to provide a quality product and capitalize on a growing market - most recently, we mixed Honest Tea's Kashmiri Chai with our organic vanilla ice cream to create our very popular Vanilla Chai ice cream," says Hirshberg. "This stepped-up investment reflects our continued excitement and renewed confidence in the potential for Honest Tea to become one of the nation's top organic beverage companies."
Dr. Gunnar Weikert, Chairman of Inventages, will join Honest Tea's board, alongside Hirshberg, Goldman and Nalebuff. The other board members are Jeffrey Swartz, President & CEO of The Timberland Company, Tim Tenney, President & CEO of Pepsi-Cola of the Hudson Valley and Robin Prever, former CEO of Saratoga Beverage Group. PR@honesttea.comHonest Tea, the company best known for its award-winning brand of organic bottled teas is at it again, taking a great drink idea and making it better, healthier, and in our opinion, tastier. Pomegranate Blue, a new entry in the Honest Ade line of organic thirst quenchers, leverages the power and taste of pomegranates and blueberries, delivering a light, crisp flavor with only 50 calories per serving. That's about 1/3 the calories of most other pomegranate drinks on the market. In addition to the great taste, each bottle delivers an impressive 200mg of antioxidants, as much as a serving of spinach. And while we think spinach is great, Honest Ade Pomegranate Blue doesn't get caught in our teeth.
Pomegranate Blue serves up more than antioxidants according to Seth Goldman, company co-founder and TeaEO. "Most pomegranate drinks on the market would make my lips pucker because they are so sweet. Pomegranate Blue has just a hint of sweetness, which means the customer is getting more of the good stuff and fewer calories."
Pomegranate juice is poised to be the unofficial ingredient of the year as researchers tout its heart healthy and cancer-fighting properties. A recent USA Weekend article named pomegranate juice as the "new powerhouse” and we think Honest Tea's Pomegranate Blue will pack a punch with consumers."
2009, when nearly 70 percent of the population will be overweight. The Organic Trade Association last reported in 2003 that organic food sales were $10.4 billion, with sales increasing at about a 20 percent annual rate since 1990.

Honest Tea became the first company to offer an organic bottled tea with First Nation Peppermint in 1999, and the first to offer a
Fair Trade Certified tea with Peach Oo-la-long Tea in 2003. Now the company is continuing its role as an innovator, by offering Just Black Tea™ and Just Green Tea
TM teas, the first organic
Fair Trade Certified unsweetened tea on the market. USDA Organic certification means that the ingredients in the tea are grown and processed without any chemical pesticides or fertilizers.
Fair Trade certification ensures that workers on estates receive a fair wage, decent working conditions, additional funding for social development projects and that the estate complies with specific criteria set by
Fair Trade Labelling Organizations International and TransFair USA.
"With Just Black Tea™ and Just Green Tea™, you'll taste just the highest quality black or green tea -- unsweetened and naturally delicious. We're also excited that we are able to build on Honest Tea's commitment to justice by selecting
Fair Trade suppliers," said Seth Goldman, President & TeaEO of Honest Tea. "Pure tea is the world's second most popular beverage, after water. This recipe is how most people around the world enjoy their tea. In addition, the health benefits of Just Green Tea™ and Just Black Tea™ will also have a wide appeal with health conscious consumers. Both teas have zero calories. Just Green Tea™ has the added benefit of EGCG antioxidant power and Just Black Tea™ is packed with L-Theanine, an amino acid that helps boost the body's immune system," said co-founder Barry Nalebuff.
Maya Spaull, Tea Program Manager, TransFair USA, said, "With the launch of their new
Fair Trade Certified™ Just Green Tea™ and Just Black Tea™ bottled teas, Honest Tea has deepened their commitment to creating meaningful partnerships with tea laborers and their families -- a partnership that empowers workers both socially and economically." By purchasing
Fair Trade Certified™ tea products, consumers directly support improvements in education, healthcare and housing for tea growing communities. Look for Just Black Tea™ and Just Green Tea™ in early spring, wherever you purchase Honest Tea in glass bottles.

HONEST TEA'S PEARFECT WHITE TEA AWARDED BEST BOTTLED TEA OF 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comHonest Tea, the best-selling brand of organic bottled tea (according to SPINscan), was awarded the Best Bottled Tea of 2005 by BevNET.com, a leading beverage industry publication.
The award was given to Honest Tea's Pearfect White Tea, a flavorful organic blend of white tea and pear puree, slightly sweetened with organic cane sugar. This win comes on the heels of Honest Tea's Mango White Tea winning Taste of Expo at the 5th Annual Taste of Expo held during the Natural Products Expo East in September. Both wins showcase Honest Tea's innovative mission of making great-tasting, truly healthy organic beverages.
BevNET.com had this to say about Pearfect White Tea, "Combining a level of sweetness that approaches the mainstream with hot natural consumer-type ingredients like white tea and organic cane sugar, with Pearfect White, Honest Tea is taking its best shot at bringing the Whole Foods and 7-Eleven crowds together. There's lots of appeal here."
Seth Goldman, President & TeaEO of Honest Tea, said, "We are thrilled to receive this award from the experts at BevNET.com. It shows that if you really get to know your consumers, you can create in a galley kitchen what the big guys can't make in their multi-million dollar R&D labs."
The white tea in Pearfect White is grown from the same plant as black and green tea, but picked at a "youthful" stage. The leaf buds are covered with fine "silvery" hairs and have a light, clean taste. White tea delivers the same potent antioxidants as green teas, but with approximately 1/8th the caffeine of coffee. It is more rare than black, green, or oolong teas and was traditionally reserved for Chinese royalty.

HONEST TEA UNVEILS NEW TEA BAG LINE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comBETHESDA, MD, November 18, 2004 - In response to strong interest from retailers and restaurants, Honest Tea is introducing a complete line of USDA Organic individually overwrapped tea bags. The attractive new packaging features the easily recognized Honest Tea "T" logo along with a colorful palette of boxes and envelopes.
Unlike most tea bags which are made with pulverized tea dust and fannings, the new bags are made with larger leaves for a more potent and flavorful infusion. "We like to think of it as loose-leaf tea without the mess," says Honest Tea President and Tea-EO, Seth Goldman. The tea bags are also dioxin-free and staple-free, making the tea bags biodegradable. These foodservice friendly boxes feature a punch-out slot for easy dispensing and include both vertical and horizontal graphics panels for greater flexibility in merchandising.
The beautiful new line will be cost-competitive, making the bags an affordable luxury. Co-founder Barry Nalebuff states, "Our objective is to make great tasting organic tea an everyday indulgence. We did it with our bottled tea - and our hope is that the new tea bag line will do the same." The new line will keep the same SKU numbers as the original tea bags, but will carry a significantly lower price point; the new line has a recommended retail price of $3.99.
Three of the varieties; Kashmiri Chai, Assam Black and Earl Grey, are Fair Trade certified by Transfair USA. "We are glad that we can expand our commitment to Fair Trade. Our commitment to social responsibility is a process, and the expansion of our Fair Trade offerings represents another step forward," states Seth Goldman.
All varieties will maintain the same name with the exception of Haarlem Honeybush which has been renamed Red Bush Blend to better convey its South African red tea origins.

HONEST TEA LAUNCHES ORGANIC TEA IN PLASTIC BOTTLE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comNEW YORK, NY, June 27, 2004 - Honest Tea, a leader in product innovation and social responsibility, today became the first company to offer organic ready-to-drink tea in 100% recyclable plastic bottles. The bottle's breakthrough panel-less design presents a sleek, eye-catching look that highlights the healthy, low-sugar/low-carb profile of the teas. The line was unveiled at the New York Fancy Food Show on Sunday, June 27, 2004.
"We wanted to develop an exciting package that complements our glass line while allowing people to enjoy our tea in new places," said Seth Goldman, President & Tea-EO of Honest Tea. "And we wanted to do it in a way that didn't compromise our brand or our commitment to sustainability." The innovative package utilizes a new filling technology that eliminates the need for heat expansion panels and ribs found on most hot-fill plastic bottles. As a result, the new panel-less design provides a cleaner, more elegant look that captures the high-quality appearance of glass.
Consumers will enjoy the same high quality and taste of Honest Tea in the new bottles. Brewed with USDA-certified organic blends of the finest tea leaves and sweetened with natural sugars, agave syrup or honey, the 15.5 ounce plastic bottles are available in four organic varieties: Green Dragon Tea - an antioxidant rich green tea; Lori's Lemon Tea - Honest Tea's take on the classic black tea with lemon; Peach Oo-La-Long - the only Fair Trade bottled tea; and Black Forest Berry - a caffeine-free fruit infusion. Each variety contains 30 calories or less and 7.5-9 grams of sugar/carbs per 8 ounce serving, approximately one-third the sugar found in most bottled teas.
The plastic bottles are being launched on the East Coast this month and are expected to rollout nationally later this year. The company's first delivery went to Independence Air, the maverick airline that took off from Washington-Dulles airport on June 16. "We're thrilled to have Honest Tea on board," said Celia Stokes, Vice President of Marketing at Independence Air. "Their high-quality and unique blends are a great match for our customers who are tired of settling for mediocre service and the same-old drink choices." Honest Tea co-founder Barry Nalebuff commented, "Just like us, Independence Air is a challenger brand with a great concept and entrepreneurial spirit taking on an industry dominated by giants. We are delighted to be their partner."
The new bottle is another "first" for the best-selling brand of organic bottled tea (as tracked by SPINSscan). Honest Tea has continually pushed the envelope on product innovation and social responsibility since it was founded out of Seth Goldman's house in 1998:
First to introduce an organic bottled tea, First Nation Peppermint, 1999 First to create a Fair Trade bottled tea, Peach Oo-La-Long, 2003 First to establish an entire product line of certified organic bottled teas and tea bags, 2004In its search for packaging alternatives, Honest Tea quickly found that not all plastics are created equal. Some, such as PVC (polyvinyl chloride 3), are known to have harmful effects on health and the environment. PVC is difficult to recycle and contains harmful ingredients that can result in the release of carcinogenic toxins in the food chain and the ecosystem. By contrast, the PET plastic in Honest Tea's new bottle is fully-recyclable and is widely considered the most environmentally-friendly form of fossil-fuel derived plastic.
"Sustainability is not an end-point, but a journey," said Goldman. "Just as we started with a few organic ingredients and eventually converted our whole product line to USDA Organic, this new bottle is an exciting development for us. We will continue to search for ways to reduce our impact on the environment while creating delicious, healthy products."

FORD ESCAPE HYBRID AND HONEST TEA JOIN FORCES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comLOS ANGELES, May 13, 2004 - What do organic bottled tea and the world's first hybrid SUV have in common? Both offer customers "no compromise" alternatives, and both will be touring the East and West coasts for what Ford and Honest Tea are calling "The Great Tea Escape."
This summer, Ford is partnering with Honest Tea to give customers a sneak peak at the 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid. "The Great Tea Escape" will be touring the country sampling Honest Tea's organic bottled iced tea and educating customers about the all-new Ford Escape Hybrid. Over the next three months, two Honest Tea-branded Escape Hybrids will appear at hundreds of events on the East and West Coast - film festivals, road races, concerts, the Green Festivals and hundreds of natural foods grocery stores. Throughout the summer, Ford and Honest Tea also will run promotions with a select retail partner that will include a sweepstakes drawing where one lucky customer will win one of Honest Tea's ëGreat Tea Escapes.'
"Both organic foods and hybrid vehicles represent a rare chance to take our society in a more sustainable direction by offering consumers the opportunity to make healthier choices for themselves and the environment," said Seth Goldman, co-founder and president of Honest Tea. "We are delighted to partner with Ford to raise awareness about hybrid transportation."
The Escape Hybrid is one of the most important deliverables on Ford's promise to help create a better world. Achieving between 35 and 40 miles per gallon in city driving, it combines near-zero emissions and the fuel economy of a full hybrid-electric system with the go-anywhere capability, toughness and cargo capacity of the Ford Escape - America's best-selling compact SUV.
"This is not just a traditional marketing relationship," said Sheri Shapiro, Ford Escape Hybrid marketing manager. "Throughout the summer, Honest Tea will use the Escape Hybrid to carry cargo throughout major metropolitan areas - and that's exactly the way this vehicle is meant to be used. It gets its best gas mileage in stop-and-go city driving and it's a real Ford SUV, so it can carry five people and their stuff comfortably, with virtually no emissions."
Ford recently invited media and celebrities to drive the Escape Hybrid throughout Manhattan to determine how far it could go on one tank of gas through New York City's treacherous traffic. After 37 non-stop hours of driving, the Escape Hybrid traveled an astonishing 576 miles on 15 gallons of fuel with near zero emissions -- resulting in fuel economy of better than 38 miles per gallon.
"We proved that the Escape Hybrid will perform exceptionally well in the worst traffic imaginable with clean efficiency," said Shapiro. "As the cleanest, most fuel-efficient SUV, we believe the Escape Hybrid not only aligns with the attitudes and values of Honest Tea customers, but it meets their vehicle needs as well."

PR@honesttea.comBethesda, MD - January 9, 2004 -- There was a time when consumers felt comfortable washing their fruits and vegetables to rid them of pesticides used in conventional (non-organic) farming. But with growth hormones used in dairy, fear of mad cow disease in meats and other food uncertainties, consumers are turning more and more to organic foods, those produced without the use of toxic and persistent chemicals. Honest Tea, the nation's leading organic bottled tea brand, has just achieved full USDA organic certification for its entire line of tea bottles and bags -- the first and only in the industry with this distinction.
In going through the certification process, the company learned what many consumers don't yet know about conventionally grown tea - that pesticides aren't scrubbed off. "Tea bushes from conventionally (non-organic) farmed tea estates are sprayed heavily with chemical fertilizers and pesticides that remain in the soil and on the leaves through the brewing process, and end up in the bottle or teacup," said Anupa Mueller, representative of Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, India, one of Honest Tea's suppliers. At Makaibari, the leaves are grown organically as well as bio-dynamically, a system designed to heal and improve the soil. Honest Tea's line of 20 varieties in bottles and bags now offer peace of mind to consumers looking for organic leaves and herbs that are both delicious and free of toxic and persistent pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals.
"We are excited about what complete organic certification means for our customers and for our company," said Seth Goldman, co-founder and Tea-EO "Going through the certification process enabled us to refine and improve the entire line," he added. Moroccan Mint is one of those teas that were improved through the organic reformulation process. It is now the bestselling bottled tea in the natural foods industry according to SPINSscan (July 2003).
There are myths and facts about organic that Goldman experienced personally during this process. One myth is that conversion means swapping organic ingredients for non- organic ingredients. When tackling Black Forest Berry, one of Honest Tea's top-sellers, Goldman and co-founder Barry Nalebuff had to start from scratch and ended up adding new ingredients, such as organic blueberries." The new organic Black Forest Berry is now, according to Goldman and consumer taste testers, "a cleaner, fresher tasting tea" that became greatly improved over the non-organic version.
In addition to Honest Tea's new organic certification, some of their teas such as Moroccan Mint and Green Dragon Tea were found to have the highest level of the key antioxidant Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) of any bottled tea in the United States. (New Use Agriculture and Natural Plant Products Program at Rutgers University). EGCG has been shown in many recent clinical studies including those of the American Institute for Cancer Research to be effective in reducing risk for many cancers. For details about these studies and the health benefits of green tea, see aicr.org/research/.
Honest Tea worked with its suppliers in India, China, South Africa, and Central America to complete its shift toward organics. Despite the shift to more selective ingredients, Honest Tea plans to maintain its current price points. "We believe that our product line, and organics more broadly, need to remain competitive with conventional items. We want our teas to be an affordable, healthy indulgence," said Honest Tea co-founder and Chairman Barry Nalebuff.

VISA-INC. MAGAZINE CONTEST WINNER BOTTLES SMALL BUSINESS SUCCESS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:

PR@honesttea.comSAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 16, 2003 - Visa USA and Inc. magazine today announced that Honest Tea owner and co-founder Seth Goldman is the winner of the Visa Business - Inc. 2003 "Dream Big" contest, a nationwide search for creative and innovative entrepreneurs who have achieved their small business dreams. Goldman, whose Bethesda, Md.-based company produces and distributes all natural, bottled tea beverages throughout the United States, was chosen from more than 100 qualified applicants as this year's small business role model.
Despite the many challenges associated with launching and sustaining a prosperous small business, particularly in today's economic environment, Goldman has been able to transform Honest Tea from its humble beginnings as a small startup business in his guest bedroom to the best selling brand of bottled teas in the natural foods industry.
"To win this national contest and be recognized by Visa and Inc. is an honor," said Seth Goldman, president and chief executive officer, or "TeaEO," of Honest Tea. "It is a powerful reminder that with the right discipline and passion, you can accomplish your dreams. It hasn't been easy, given that several huge companies dominate the beverage industry, but Honest Tea has persevered to become the nation's leading brand of natural and organic bottled tea."
Small businesses like Honest Tea are an essential part of the U.S. economy. In fact, more than 99 percent of U.S. employers are small businesses, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. America's 23 million small businesses employ 50 percent of the private work force, generate more than half the non-farm national gross domestic product (GDP) and are the principal source of new jobs in the U.S. economy.
"Seth's determination and persistence to create a product in a saturated market with established competitors is a compelling story about an entrepreneur who wasn't afraid to dream big," said Jean Burkhart, vice president of Visa Business at Visa USA. "Visa's main objective is to help small business owners grow their companies by providing them with products that enable them to focus on what matters most ó their businesses. Hopefully our contest will inspire other entrepreneurs to pursue their goals of managing successful organizations."
Goldman's vision for Honest Tea began to emerge in the mid-1990s when he studied under professor Barry Nalebuff at the Yale School of Management. During a classroom discussion, the two discovered a common interest in creating a less sweet, great tasting, all natural beverage that filled the void between existing beverage product categories that were either super sweet or flavorless.
Several years later, with the support of his wife and with Nalebuff's guidance, Goldman began the process of researching and creating a unique tea beverage. He also developed a business plan that included a pledge to support economically disadvantaged communities whenever possible. In doing so, the company introduced what is believed to be the first "fair-trade" bottled tea program designed to direct a portion of proceeds to education, health care and other community needs. Today, Honest Tea products are featured in some of the nation's largest supermarket and natural food retail chains. In 2002, Honest Tea booked nearly $5 million in gross revenue.
As this year's "Dream Big" winner, Goldman and Honest Tea will be featured in the October issue of Inc. Goldman will also receive a consultation with a small business expert and vacation package for two. Three contest finalists ó Developmental Therapy Assoc. Inc., Dirty Dogs Pet Group and 1-800-Got-Junk? ó will also be featured in Inc.'s October issue, which is expected to be on newsstands Sept. 30.

QUENCHING THIRST AND SOCIAL CONSCIENCE? OO-LA- LONG!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke

PR@honesttea.comBethesda, MD - May 16, 2003 Honest Tea, the nation's leading brand of natural and organic bottled tea, announced that its newest tea, Peach Oo-la-long, would be the first bottled tea in the US to carry the Fair Trade logo. The leaf, oolong tea used to brew the newest Honest Tea comes from Makaibari tea plantation in Darjeeling, the first tea garden in that region to be Fair Trade certified. The Honest Tea supplier has won many awards for its organic and biodynamic agricultural practices.
Fair Trade certification in general, and specifically at Makaibari, ensures that workers on estates receive a fair share of profits and that the estate complies with specific criteria set by Trans Fair International to ensure equality and fairness. A joint body of workers decides which community development projects get funded from the profits. Environmental programs such as integrated pest management or organic agriculture are also part of the criteria for certification. Fair trade is often seen as the social side of organic production, taking into account workers' rights and economic development whereas organic defines the manner in which the product is grown.
"Fair trade is about people whereas organic is about the earth," said Anupa Mueller, President & Owner of Eco-Prima tea importers. Eco-Prima supplies Honest Tea with oolong from Makaibari.
"The holistic system that embodies Makaibari is one that accounts for the livelihood of the worker and environment in which he/she works. In my view, you can't have one without the other," added Mueller.
Honest Tea is committed to creating partnerships with suppliers and growers that support economic and community development. "Having the first Fair Trade Certified bottled tea is exciting, but we also recognize Fair Trade is still in its infancy," said Seth Goldman, TeaEO of Honest Tea. "Large tea producing countries such as China are limited in these certification processes, and small farmers are often at a disadvantage. However, Fair Trade is an important step toward improving working conditions for tea growers. We look forward to Fair Trade being embraced by more growers, producers and consumers so that we can work to develop an international standard that is widely recognized," Goldman added.

NEW STUDY FINDS TEA BOOSTS BODY'S DEFENSES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:

PR@honesttea.comBethesda, MD - May 5, 2003 Tea is clearly not just for sipping anymore. A new report recently released from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, revealed that five cups per day of black tea is effective in boosting the body's defenses against infection through a substance called L-theanine, which protects against disease by attacking bacteria, viruses and fungi. The results of the study on humans who drank five cups of tea per day showed that their blood cells responded five times faster to germs than the cells of coffee drinkers.
This is good news for Honest Tea, the leading organic bottled tea maker whose levels of L-theanine were significantly higher than other commercial brands. The Maryland-based company brews its black, green and herbal teas using whole leaves and adding just a touch of sweetener as an alternative to the highly processed, syrupy-sweet teas and tea-flavored drinks flooding the market. In an independent study from Rutgers University, Honest Tea's levels of L-theanine per 16 oz was 15.2 mg, higher than other brands including Lipton (10.2 mg), Snapple (5.2 mg) and Nestea (1.7mg).
Green Tea Recent studies supported by the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) show green tea as another powerful immune booster from the active ingredients such as polyphenols and flavonoids, both potent antioxidants that have been shown in these studies to help fight and prevent cancer. Honest Tea recently joined forces with AICR to help get the word out about the benefits of green tea through AICR's web link, www.aicr.org/greentea. Green Dragon Tea, Honest Tea's newest offering, contains the highest amount of disease-fighting catechin, Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG), 99.9 mg per 16 oz, compared to mainstream competitors whose levels range from 7.6 mg to 9.8 mg per 16 oz, according to the Rutgers University analysis.

NATURAL TEA GROWTH IN THE US, SWEET BUT NOT STICKY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comBethesda, MD - January 20, 2003 - Honest Tea, the leading organic bottled tea company is getting a taste of the sweet life. Now in only its fifth year, the Maryland-based tea company has experienced a 110% annual growth rate since it started and is currently growing (53.8%) faster than mainstream ready-to-drink bottled tea competitors such as Nantucket Nectars (11.3%), Snapple (10.8%), and Arizona (8.7%). (AC Nielsen Scantrack: SPINS NaturalTrack, Nov 2002). Their secret? The organic and natural tea brand offers consumers refreshingly different beverage choices than that of their competitors - unsweetened, barely sweetened, and with the two newest offerings, just a "tad sweetened." The new Green Dragon Tea and Peach Oo-la-long bottled teas have only 30 calories, taste great, are certified organic and offer more antioxidant benefits far beyond other bottled green teas. Honest.
Green Dragon Tea and Peach Oo-la-long are being launched this month nationwide and will be rolling out onto the shelves of grocery, natural food, convenience and other grab and go outlets. The two new additions are certified organic and "a tad sweet," delivering more sweetness to the taste than other Honest Tea products, but only 30 calories compared to Snapple Lemon (100 calories), SoBe Green tea (90 calories), and many other bottled beverage competitors. Both teas introduce unique taste combinations to the category such as Peach Oo-la-long, pairing the brightness of peach puree with the smokiness of oolong tea leaves, and Green Dragon Tea, pairing the unique flavor of green tea with passion fruit. Both teas offer benefits far beyond their delightful taste combinations and low calorie profiles.
Foods that Fight Cancer Honest Tea's new Green Dragon Tea is rich in Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG), the most powerful antioxidant in green tea. According to Dr Hasan Mukhtar, Professor at Case Western Reserve University and one of the nation's leading researchers in this area, "adding four cups of green tea to your daily diet may lower your risk of cancer." Dr Mukhtar and several scientists are researching the benefits of cancer fighting foods such as green tea to learn more about the links between cancer prevention, nutrition and diet. Their clinical summaries along with other research findings can be found at http://www.aicr.org/research/grantsearchdetail.lasso?grantname=tea. Very recently, human clinical studies have begun to explore consumption of green tea among cancer survivors. Preliminary results suggest that regular consumption (3 or more cups/day) of green tea is associated with reduced recurrence of early (Stage I) breast cancer and other studies have associated regular usage of green tea with lower risk for bladder, colon, stomach, pancreatic and esophageal cancers. Honest Tea's bottled green teas are made with real tea leaves and therefore are rich in antioxidants, unlike many of their bottled tea competitors.
A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Green Dragon Tea will go to support the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR). This effort will also help Honest Tea consumers learn more about the cancer-fighting benefits of the Green Dragon Tea product. Tea, in general, both black and green, contains numerous active ingredients, including polyphenols and flavonoids, which are potent antioxidants. According to AICR, many laboratory studies have shown that green tea has been shown to slow or completely prevent cancer development in colon, liver, breast and prostate cells. Other studies involving green tea have shown similar protective effects in tissues of the lung, skin and digestive tract. Green Dragon Tea features the AICR logo on its front label and the website on its back label (www.aicr.org/greentea), driving more individuals to learn about the unique cancer-preventing properties of green tea.
Organic - Leaves of a Different Nature Like the majority of Honest Tea products, the two new teas are certified organic. Peach Oo-la-long introduces the unique taste of oolong tea to consumers in a new grab and go form. While oolong is from the same plant as green and black tea, it ferments more than green tea but less than black, producing a subtle and sophisticated taste. And for tea drinkers who want only the taste of the leaf, not chemical or pesticide residues used in conventional tea agriculture, Honest Teas can deliver. Honest Tea's oolong tea leaves come from the Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, India, one of the most environmentally innovative gardens in the world. Not only is the tea organically grown without the use of toxic and persistent chemicals, but the tea is also grown bio-dynamically, that is, in an eco-system that is designed to heal and improve the soil. The combination of this soil program with promotion of natural undergrowth, forestation and wildlife make the garden greener and less vulnerable to the elements and mudslides that imperil most conventional Darjeeling estates.
An Opus of Your Own In keeping with the playful taste combination of Peach Oo-la-long, the bottled tea label features America's favorite penguin, Opus, from the Bloom County comic strip. Berkeley Breathed, Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist and creator of the strip, is both one of Honest Tea's earliest customers and an investor in the company. "There will never be a penguin as beloved, innocent, offbeat and hilarious as Opus," said Seth Goldman, President and TeaEO of Honest Tea. "We are delighted to have him front and center on our newest addition and hope our customers can take as much pleasure in the taste, name and character behind Peach Oo-la-long as we had creating it," added Goldman. Opus appeared in the syndicated cartoon strip, Bloom County, nationwide from 1980 to 1995.

HONEST TEA INTRODUCES TWO NEW TEA BAG VARIETIES: "CHAMOLIME" AND "HAARLEM HONEYBUSH"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comBETHESDA, MD (August 2002) - Honest Tea, the best-selling maker of lightly sweetened bottled iced tea in the country, is introducing two new tea bag varieties just in time for fall and winter sipping.
Chamolime is a caffeine-free blend of organic chamomile and sun-dried crushed limes from Guatemala. The tea has a light and soothing taste. Haarlem Honeybush is an organic herbal tea from South Africa, first introduced as a bottled tea variety in the spring of 2002. The taste of Honeybush, which is from the same plant family as rooibos, has hints of honey and apricots.
Both varieties and the full line of Honest Tea tea bag flavors are now available in new, colorful cylinders. The new containers, which each hold 18 bags, are made of 100 percent recycled materials and take up less space, both on the grocery store and kitchen shelves. The lids of the containers are made of #2 recyclable plastic as well.
"We love introducing new teas, especially when they have such complex and wonderful tastes," said Seth Goldman, president and TeaEO of Honest Tea. "It's even more exciting when we can find ways to produce teas in community development partnerships. The limes for the new Chamolime variety, which are dried in the sun for four months before being shattered, are purchased from Cooperativa, El Limon, a Guatemalan farming co-operative. "Honest Tea's purchase of dried limes represents the co-op's first sale to the United States," added Goldman.
"We raise the best limes in the world and have the optimum conditions for drying them in the sun, confirmed Chalo Arriaza, General Manager of the Cooperativa, El Limon. "As the largest employer in the area, we have brought hope and pride to this community by providing a market for locally grown limes. This has had a huge financial impact on the local economy."
Honest Tea purchases the honeybush for its new teas from the Haarlem Honeybush Tea Group (Heuningbos tee Vereniging), an association of farmers from Haarlem, a subsistence farming community in the western cape province of South Africa. Honest Tea is sharing a portion of the sales with the farmers to help them expand their production capacity.
"The partnership between Honest Tea and the Honeybush farmers of Haarlem is an exciting step for the economic hopes of this community," read a statement by the Haarlem Honeybush Tea Group (Heuningbos tee Vereniging). Working with companies like Honest Tea has provided the group with the ability to apply for more land and expand its plantations to achieve higher production. A growing number of farmers are interested in farming honeybush, which means that more tea can be produced in the future for the local or international market. "As Haarlem has a very high rate of unemployment, our growers group is proud to be associated with job creation and positive growth in the communityÖOur dream is to make the world aware of South African natural products and a heritage to be proud of and to be economically sustainable in the production of the Honeybush plantÖAll of these can be achieved through successful business relationships such as Honest Tea." -
While many other tea bags are filled with tea dust and fannings, Honest Tea's whole-leaf tea varieties are different. Each Honest Tea bag contains at least 1.5 grams of whole-leaf tea, not chopped or cut, keeping more of the robust tea flavor intact. Each tea bag has an -more- innovative one-piece, tag-and-bag design, with no staple or string, making them fully biodegradable. Inside, the unbleached tea bag is fresh, full-leaf, flavorful tea.
"Our tea bags provide consumers with the closest thing to loose leaf without the mess or clean up, and our new packaging showcases our continued commitment to environmental responsibility by providing an airtight container without having to use overwraps," added Goldman.
Similar to all other Honest Tea packaging, the new Chamolime and Haarlem Honeybush labels showcase artwork from the culture of the tea inside. The Chamolime label features a colorful view of farmers in a Guatemalan citrus grove, and the Haarlem Honeybush label includes a beautiful view of Haarlem, painted by self-taught local artist, Avril du Preez. The newly introduced tea bag varieties join Honest Tea's five other organic tea bag versions that include: Jiangxi Green, Assam, Earl Grey, First Nation Peppermint, and Moroccan Mint.
English and French language ingredient listings are now included on each package. Both new teas are available throughout the United States at Wild Oats and independent natural food markets and in Sobey's, the largest grocery chain in Canada. The suggested retail price ranges from $3.99-$4.99.

HONEST TEA INTRODUCES LORI'S LEMON TEA - THE FIRST UNSWEETENED, ORGANIC BOTTLED TEA VARIETY AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comBETHESDA, MD. (June, 2002) - Honest Tea, the top-selling and fastest-growing maker of bottled iced tea in natural food supermarkets, according to recent data from SPINscan, is adding the first unsweetened organic tea -- a black tea with lemon -- to its existing line of nine freshly brewed and lightly- sweetened, bottled teas. Called Lori's Lemon Tea, this new bottled tea variety features the clean taste of organic black tea with organic lemon juice, making for a delicious and satisfying real tea taste.
The winning Lori's Lemon Tea label was designed by Lori Andrews, an Honest Tea drinker and aspiring graphic designer whose label design was selected from dozens of entries submitted by Honest Tea customers around the country.
Honest Tea Introduces First Unsweetened Bottled Tea/page 2
"This is my first printed design work," said Andrews. "I'm excited that people will see my art on store shelves, and I hope this recognition is a first step in helping me to fulfill my dreams of becoming a graphic designer."
Andrews, 23, lives in Hamilton Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati. She learned about Honest Tea's logo design contest after purchasing Honest Tea at the Jungle Jim's International Farmer's Market near her home and visiting the company's website to learn more about the variety of flavors she could buy in the future.
The contest was judged by co-founders Seth Goldman and Barry Nalebuff, fashion designer Eileen Fisher and Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and creator of the comic strip Bloom County, Berkeley Breathed. "A black tea with lemon is the traditional favorite around the Breathed homestead, so it was with deadly seriousness that I approached the selection of logo design for Honest Tea's newest flavor. This time, this one time, there shall be no penguins to be found whatsoever in the artwork. The rest of the team picked up the ball and here we are with another tasty and artistic hit for Honest Tea," stated Breathed. Eileen Fisher added, "I liked the soulful way Seth and Barry approached this projectÖvery consistent with their product."
"Lori's Lemon Tea is a creative collaboration between Honest Tea and our customers. We heard their request for an unsweetened black tea with lemon and then took it one step further by enlisting their help in creating a label," said Seth Goldman, president and Tea-EO of Honest Tea.
According to Goldman, a recent study published by Giant Supermarkets of Maryland confirms that drinking one 20-fluid ounce soft drink every day for a year adds more than 90,000 calories to an individual's diet. "Substituting an unsweetened beverage can lead to a weight loss of more than 26 pounds in a year," the study said. Citing Americans' sharp increase in sugar consumption, a broad array of health and nutrition experts have recently asked the federal government to commission a National Academy of Sciences (NAS) study on the health consequences of sugar consumption. The experts cited medical evidence indicating that diets high in sugar can promote obesity, kidney stones, osteoporosis, heart disease, and dental caries. "Our commitment to developing less-sweet, great-tasting teas, using all natural and organic ingredients with low sugar or no sugar is resonating with consumers," added Goldman.

HONEST TEA INTRODUCES FIRST BOTTLED HONEYBUSH TEA IN THE UNITED STATES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:

PR@honesttea.comBETHESDA, MD. (June, 2002) - Honest Tea is adding an innovative honeybush bottled tea variety to its existing line of best-selling bottled teas. Called Haarlem Honeybush, this new certified organic tea is the first bottled tea of its kind in the United States and is already generating excitement from store buyers and consumers.
With the introduction of this new tea, Honest Tea has formed an innovative economic development partnership with farmers living in Haarlem, South Africa. As part of the agreement, Honest Tea will purchase honeybush for the tea exclusively from Haarlem and donate a percentage of sales to help these farmers continue to develop the community honeybush project.
Honest Tea's new honeybush bottled tea variety is unsweetened, with 0 grams of sugar and no calories. The taste of Haarlem Honeybush is often described as smooth and mellow, with hints of honey and even fruit. Like all Honest Tea bottled tea varieties, Haarlem Honeybush is brewed in spring water and uses no aspartame, artificial colors, sweeteners or flavors. The fragrant herbal tea has less caffeine than decaffeinated coffee. Indigenous to the mountain regions near the tiny western cape town of Haarlem, South Africa, honeybush leaves are harvested during the flowering season to produce the sweetest flavor. In the African tradition, honeybush is often enjoyed for its health benefits. The tea is packed with isoflavones and other antioxidants and has been credited with calming the central nervous system, easing constipation and relieving menopausal symptoms.
"By purchasing honeybush exclusively from the Haarlem Honeybush Tea Group, including their name on our label, and donating back a portion of sales, we hope to support the community's efforts toward economic self-sufficiency," said Honest Tea president and Tea-EO Seth Goldman. In April 2002 Goldman traveled to Haarlem, South Africa to cement the partnership with the Haarlem Honeybush Tea Group, a cooperative created by the local farmers. "It took quite a bit of effort to bring this tea to market. The honeybush farmers don't have a fax machine, computer or phone to use to take orders. They will need this kind of infrastructure in place if this project is to help the Haarlem community move beyond its 80 percent unemployment rate."
"As Haarlem has a very high rate of unemployment, our growers group is proud to be associated with job creation and positive growth in the communityÖOur dream is to make the world aware of South African natural products and a heritage to be proud of and to be economically sustainable in the production of the Honeybush plantÖAll of these can be achieved through successful business relationships such as Honest Tea."
Honest Tea has become a leader in developing win-win community development partnerships. In 1999, Honest Tea introduced First Nation Peppermint, the first fully organic bottled tea, produced in partnership with the Crow Nation, a community with 67% unemployment. In 2001, Honest Tea introduced Community Green, a fully organic green tea with Maltese orange that is marketed in partnership with City Year, the national youth service non-profit Honest Tea is the top-selling and fastest-growing maker of bottled iced tea in natural food supermarkets, according to recent data from SPINSscan. Honeybush joins the line up of other Honest Tea varieties: Assam, First Nation Peppermint, Moroccan Mint and Decaffeinated Jakarta Ginger, as well as Kashmiri Chai, Gold Rush, Decaf Ceylon, Black Forest Berry, Community Green, and a full line of whole leaf, fully biodegradable tea bags.

HONEST TEA BECOMES TOP-SELLING AND FASTEST-GROWING BRAND
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke

PR@honesttea.comBETHESDA, MD (August, 2001) - Only three short years after its humble beginnings of brewing tea in president and Tea-EO Seth Goldman's kitchen, Honest Tea sales have exploded, propelling the company to become the top-selling and fastest-growing bottled tea brand in the natural foods channel. According to recent data from SPINS, the market research firm that analyzes the natural food industry, Honest Tea has captured at least 26.7 percent of the bottled tea market in the natural foods channel, topping brands such as Sobe, Snapple, Arizona and Tazo.
"Honest Tea is thrilled that consumers are discovering our teas and appreciate what makes them so different from others on the market today," says president and Tea-EO Goldman. "Our commitment to developing lightly sweetened, great-tasting teas, using all natural and organic ingredients with a lot less sugar seems to be resonating with consumers looking for a cleaner, healthier taste."
For the past 18 months Honest Tea has been, and continues to be, the fastest growing tea brand in the natural food industry, according to May 2001 SPINS data. "We are particularly excited that much of this growth has come from growing the category, as
Honest Tea Becomes Leading/Fastest Growing Brand/2 opposed to stealing market share from other brands," added Goldman. "The ready-to-drink tea category would have only grown 6% in 2001 without Honest Tea, but with Honest Tea, the category has grown 16.7%."
Organic foods are the fastest-selling food category in the United States. According to recent Roper Starch findings, three-quarters of Americans are concerned about the quality of the food supply, and sixty six percent of Americans believe that organic products will consume a larger part of their purchasing in the coming years.
Honest Tea has been a leader in meeting consumer demand for natural and organic foods. In 1999, it was the first company to introduce a fully organic, bottled tea, and has re-engineered its line so that more than half of all its products are fully organic. Honest Tea's bottled versions of Moroccan Mint, Jakarta Ginger, First Nation and Community Green and five of its eight whole leaf tea bag blends have been certified as being free of any chemical herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers. All the other Honest Tea bottled tea varieties (Kashmiri Chai, Gold Rush, Decaf Ceylon and Black Forest Berry) contain some organic ingredients.
"We look forward to the implementation of the USDA organic standards in October of 2002 so that consumers will have a better understanding of the benefits of organic foods," said Goldman.

HONEST TEA RECEIVES ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:

PR@honesttea.comBETHESDA, MD (May, 2001) - Honest Tea, the fast-growing maker of lightly sweetened, bottled iced tea, has received organic certification for several varieties by Pennsylvania Certified Organic, a member of the Organic Trade Association. Honest Tea's bottled versions of Moroccan Mint, Jakarta Ginger, First Nation and Community Green have been certified as being free of any chemical herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers. All the other Honest Tea bottled tea flavors (Kashmiri Chai, Gold Rush, Decaf Ceylon and Black Forest Berry) contain some organic ingredients.
"Honest Tea is excited to be the first to offer fully organic bottled teas in mainstream venues. Our national presence with Barnes and Noble and other prominent chains enables us to sell organic beverages to the fast-growing group of consumers looking for healthier and more environmentally friendly alternatives," says Seth Goldman, president and Tea-EO of Honest Tea. "Organic products represent the fastest-growing portion of the natural foods segment with a consistent annual growth of more than 20 percent. A recent study published by LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) estimated the market for organic products to be 50 million consumers."
In December of 2000, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued standards that clearly define organic foods. These standards, which will be implemented over the next 18 months, include the following definitions:
"100 percent organic " - which means products contain only organically produced ingredients; "Organic" - which means 95 percent organically produced ingredients; "Made with organic ingredients," which means at least 70 percent of ingredients must be organic, excluding water and salt. "Once the USDA organic program is introduced, consumers will have a deeper understanding and interest in organic products. They will start looking for products that bear the "USDA Organic" seal in October of 2002. We are excited to be in the forefront of this emerging market," added Goldman. "We are working with our existing suppliers as well as searching for new suppliers to make the rest of our line fully organic."

HONEST TEA INTRODUCES "COMMUNITY GREEN"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
Samme Menke
301-760-4833
PR@honesttea.comBETHESDA, MD (February, 2001) - Honest Tea is adding Community Green, an organic green tea flavored with essence of Maltese orange, to its existing line of bottled teas for summer. Like the eight other bottled teas made by Honest Tea, Community Green is freshly brewed and just barely sweetened. The new flavor also contains a high level of antioxidants that can help promote overall health. A portion of Community Green sales will benefit City Year, the national youth service organization.
"Community Green combines two of our passions - making great tasting tea and using business to create positive change," said Seth Goldman, president and TeaEO of Honest Tea. "We are excited to extend our commitment to social responsibility from working with the Crow Nation of Montana to supporting America's cities.
In 1999, Honest Tea introduced First Nation Peppermint, an organic herbal tea created in partnership with a woman-owned company based on the Crow Reservation. Tea has been bringing diverse groups of people together for centuries. What better way to salute City Year's commitment to building community than with a bottle of great tasting tea?" Goldman added Community Green is a fully organic tea made with Chinese tea leaves and essence of Maltese orange, also known as blood orange. The tea has a refreshing and unique orange taste and is brewed in spring water. It is sweetened, just barely, with organic cane sugar and has just 5 grams of carbohydrates and 17 calories for an eight-ounce serving.
Established in 1989, City Year is a national service organization that unites diverse 17-24 year-olds for a challenging year of full-time community service, leadership development and civic engagement. City Year corps members serve their communities by running after school and out-of-school programs, mentoring and tutoring children, teaching health and safety curriculums and leading special civic engagement programs. The corps members' year of service makes a positive difference to the communities and the individuals they serve, while cultivating powerful citizenship skills and values among the corps members themselves. This year, City Year corps members will perform approximately 1.5 million hours of service in 13 sites across the country.
"City Year is thrilled to partner with Honest Tea, a company that shares our belief in the power of service and our commitment to building stronger communities," said Alan Khazei, City Year's co-founder and CEO. "The support of Honest Tea will help us to inspire more people to serve."
The tea's name Community Green has its foundation in a time when the heart of a community was its shared common space. Commons were used for purposes as diverse as grazing farm animals, training militias and holding voice-vote elections. "While today's gathering spaces are less centralized, we hope the new Community Green tea and the hard work of City's Year's members will connect consumers with a shared mission of building communities," said Goldman.
"Like other Honest Tea green teas currently on the market, the new Community Green delivers a high level of antioxidants that are only found in real brewed tea," said Barry Nalebuff, co-founder of Honest Tea. "More and more people are drinking green tea for health reasons, and research shows that antioxidants like those found in whole leaf teas can help protect the body from a variety of illnesses."
In keeping with the aesthetic of the rest of the line, Community Green's label is simple and clean. The label art features a variety of multi-colored hand prints coming together and incorporates the City Year logo. The label also includes a popular City Year quote that summarizes the influence of the organization: "Young enough to want to change the world, old enough to do it."
Along with Community Green, the Honest tea line includes: organic flavors Assam, First Nation Peppermint, Moroccan Mint, and Jakarta Ginger, as well as Kashmiri Chai, Gold Rush, Decaf Ceylon and Black Forest Berry, and a line of whole leaf, fully biodegradable tea bags available in eight varieties.
